An Ideal Place to Learn
At Ideal Schools, our goal is to offer the finest
education and academic experience possible, by focusing our
efforts on students' academic achievement and social well-being. Each student benefits from individualized instruction and guidance, and the opportunity to shape their high school education and experience.
We have created a Graduate
School in High School
in our small, independent high school in Ashburn, Virginia, to foster students' Focused Mastery
of academic content and
skills with:
- Roundtable seminars, more time on
task, extended discussion of academic content, and individualized
instruction,
electives, and opportunities
- Highly qualified teachers with professional
experience in their subject areas
- Rich, compelling, and connected academic content that is
more relevant and engaging
- Strategic use of educational technology
- A small learning community with a healthy social
climate
In this
environment, our
students can explore their interests, improve the depth and breadth of
their knowledge and the quality of their analytical abilities, and
develop the dispositions that are the wellspring of long-term success.
Plus, our
individualized
college- and professional-preparatory program helps students get into
college. All of our
graduating seniors were accepted by the college of
their choice.
| Parents: You have questions about high school and college, and we have answers
Helping a teenager do as well as he or she can in high school is not always simple. We host evening
forums to share what we have learned about how to help
high school students improve their work and prepare for an increasingly complex world. We are happy to share what works, what does not, and what we are doing to learn more.
Presentations and discussions will cover the following topics, among others:
Helping students focus and succeed in The Age of Distraction (a.k.a. The Multitasking Myth)
What are the professional opportunities and challenges for students currently in high school?
Why do bright students under perform in high school?
Helping students choose what to do, when they can do anything, and nothing
The Motivation Paradox
